The twelfth Monte-Carlo Fashion week saw resort and cruise collections and esteemed guests from 22 to 26 April. This year’s fashion shows and presentations revolved around the main themes of sustainability, inclusiveness and diversity. After the official launch at the Principality’s Town Hall, the event continued in the exclusive Yacht Club de Monaco.

Federico Marchetti’s new book

Highlights included a book launch by Federico Marchetti, Founder of the Yoox Net-a-Porter group, President of the Sustainable Markets Initiative Fashion Task Force founded by King Charles III and member of the Board of Directors of Giorgio Armani. He presented his book,“The Adventures of an Innovator” during an interview by Justin Highman, Deputy Managing Director of the MEB. During the Fashion Awards ceremony, Federico Marchetti received the Positive Change Award as Digital Entrepreneur and Pioneer of Sustainable Fashion.

Preview of Olympic uniforms

Godmother of the event, Stella Jean, opened the catwalks with a collection created in collaboration with artisans from Umbria. She gave a sneak-peek at Haiti’s Olympic uniforms, which will be shown to the world during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Sustainability was at the heart of Gracey Owusu Agyemang’s collection, winner of the Sustainable Emerging Designer Award. The luxury collection highlights Afro-Asian craftsmanship and culture, created in collaboration with Dijágo Studios, co-founded with Khudija Zaib.

Fashion made from recycled sails

Beach & Cashmere Monaco by Federica Nardoni Spinetta had an environmental approach by presenting a collection created with recycled sails from the Yacht Club de Monaco, highlighting the theme of circularity.

“We are proud to have supported Monegasque brands and to have shown international fashion designers and personalities that the Principality of Monaco is a prestigious stage to present their collections and a platform to discuss the importance of sustainable and circular fashion,” said Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the Monegasque Chamber of Fashion and Monte-Carlo Fashion Week.

Championing female entrepreneurs

The Fashion Hub, a dynamic venue that hosted Pop-Ups, also hosted the Monaco Women in Finance Institute Symposium to promote inclusion and female entrepreneurship, as well as a new project against violence against women.

Lingerie Made-in-Monaco

Under the watchful eyes of esteemed guests, including Claudio Betti of Spinnaker (member of the Board of Directors of Camera Buyer Italia, awarded with the Ethical & Sustainable Buyer Award) fashion shows continued into the week. These included Victoria Silvstedt by Marli Dresses collection, the elegant Sicilian A’Biddikkia brand, which draws inspiration from ancient traditions, the couture of Japanese Mami Okano, a Riviera collection with Leslie Monte Carlo and authentic and refined lingerie from Les Dessous de Monaco.

Another highlight was when Chiara Ferragni participated as a mentor for emerging designers by awarding the Haute Couture lingerie brand, Les Dessous de Monaco, which stands out for its entirely Made-in-Monaco collection.

The stage decor at the closing event was created by the Pavillon Bosio Academy of Fine Arts of Monaco. During the closing event, young creators from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts in London, were awarded with the Educational Award.
